A Guide to Consigning Your Wardrobe
If your wardrobe is holding onto pieces you no longer wear, consigning is the easiest way to give them a second life — and put some money back in your pocket. Here's exactly how it works with Pre Loved Geelong.
What Is Consignment?
Consignment means we sell your pre-loved pieces on your behalf, in-store and online, and you receive a share of the sale price once each item sells. Unlike a straight sell-off, you don't hand over your wardrobe for a lump sum upfront — you're paid as your pieces find their new home, with payouts processed monthly on the 1st, so the better the piece, the better the return.
What We Accept
We stock women's, men's, and children's preloved fashion, with a focus on quality, current, and well-loved brands. We have separate brand guides for men's and women's, each running you through exactly what we accept — before you book, it's worth doing a quick check against these:
- Items should be clean, freshly laundered, and in excellent condition — no stains, pilling, missing buttons, or visible wear
- We look for recognisable, in-demand labels rather than fast fashion
- Pieces should be on-trend or timeless, not dated
- Everything is assessed on quality and saleability, not just brand name
If you're ever unsure whether something's a good fit, it's easier to ask than to guess — a quick photo can save you a wasted trip.
New to consigning with us? After checking your pieces against the relevant brand guide, we ask new consignors to send photos first. If your items look like a good fit, we'll then book you in for your appointment.
How to Book
Appointments are booked online through our website — we no longer accept walk-ins, so this step is essential. Booking ahead means we can give your pieces proper attention and keep the process running smoothly for every consignor.
What Happens at Your Appointment
Bring your items freshly laundered and ready to hand over. Our team will go through each piece with you, and anything accepted is entered straight into our system — Aravenda — which gives you your own account to track exactly what's been listed, what's sold, and what's still on the floor. No more guessing where things stand.
Pricing and Payout
Everyday pieces are generally priced at 25-30% of RRP, giving you a fair return while keeping items accessible for buyers. For luxury and designer pieces, pricing is set collaboratively based on brand, condition, and current market demand — some brands hold their value well enough to command more than the standard rate. Once an item sells, your share is tracked automatically in your Aravenda account.
To keep stock moving, items are marked down at 4 weeks. At 8 weeks, you'll receive an automated email prompting you to log into your Aravenda account and check whether you have anything up for collection. We then hold those items for 7 days from that email — if we haven't seen or heard from you by then, they're donated to our charity partners.
Why Consign With Us
Beyond the payout, consigning keeps good clothing in circulation instead of landfill, gives your pieces a genuine second chapter, and supports a local, team-run business here on Pakington Street. It's a small act with a real impact — for your wardrobe, and for Geelong's growing pre-loved community.
